GTX 970 + i5 3330 bottleneck? Need solution.

Hi guys. Well as you know I just got my GTX 970 4GB OC from MSI and Farcry 4 along side with it. I'm only getting 39fps (min) to 69 fps (max) with everything set to ultra and AA set to SMAA. Is this because of my i5 3330?

There are my specs :- Processor - i5 3330 @3.0 GHz(3.2 with boost)

RAM - Transcend 8 GB (4x2) @ 1333MHz

Power Supply - Cooler Master G750M

GPU - GTX 970 4GDST OCV1

HDD - Hitachi 500 GB


Yes tried installing the latest Nvidia drivers still no solution. Tho yes keep in mind that I'm still using the release day Far Cry 4 patch (v1.0.0) can't update because of bad internet connection.

CPU Usage Max - 75 to 78%
GPU Usage Max 92%

CPU Temps 83°C Max GPU 76 to 77°C Max.

Usage of each core. Also, CPU temps are a bit high, but won't affect performance.

CPU2 - 47 % (Usage)
CPU3 - 84 % (Usage)
CPU4 - 59 %
CPU - 60 % (Usage)
P.S this isn't max. These are just the random Usage stats that I took a screen shot of while playing


Temperature :-

CPU1 - 80°c
CPU2 - 83°C
CPU3- 81°C
CPU4 - 84°C
CPU - 84°C

What program exactly are you using? If you used MSI afterburner you could see a nice long pretty graph of a long period of time.

83c is a too much high in my opinion and his cpu might be throtling at this temp

Yeah, those are too high and he should invest in an aftermarket cooler. But if it was throttling, that would lower frequency and then you would see 100% usage, but none of his CPU cores are at 100%.

Same, my 4460 never really goes over 55C.

I will be buying an after market Cooler very soon. But for now I got to make use of this stock one as I don't have money with me. Need the solution for this problem. Please help? D:

The solution is that your CPU seems to be struggling a bit there, so you'll just have to, well, live with it or buy a stronger one. Far Cry 4 is an Ubisoft game, they are always CPU intense.

Any recommendations for a good cheap CPU that won't make my replace my current Mobo? Spent a lot of money recently , and do you think that updating from patch 1.0.0(release day version) to patch 1.6.0 (current one I think) will help? I'm really sad because I saved alot alot of money for this. For my 970 I can't see it going for a waste. (

Just play a different game, your I5 should do fine on a non-Ubisoft game. Or just play the game and be happy. I don't see what is wrong with playing a game on 39FPS.

To me less that 49fps look a bit bad

You could try to undust your pc and cpu cooler*

UPDATE.

Okay guys. Downloaded the latest game patch set everything to ultra. Im getting 60 fps(Vsync on) Sometimes drops to 57. Its a major boost tho.

If still your cpu temps are high then dont RUN the game until you get aftermarket cooler. turkey3 same cpu but I have it with a 960 and upgrade to 980ti but I dont want to change to i7...

Yes the CPU temps are still as high as 80°c. I will be getting an after market cooler tommorow. I tried MGS Phantom pain i get a constant of 60 fps(vsync locked) never dips down. Still the temps are too high. I guess i wont use it till i get an after market cooler i guess

Sounds like its running as expected to be honest.

80'c temps are high, but not dangerous. Get a better CPU cooler when possible.

If you have some thermal paste try to unmount cooler reaplly paste and mount again

I just ordered the GAMMAX 300 Cooler from Deepcool. Please tell me if it is good and yes im sadly out of compound paste.
