so i heard there is a lawsuit for false advertisement on nvidia so what does that mean to me as a gtx 970 owner will we return it to company ? get something in return ?

Solution
Cant tell until the lawsuit is closed.
2 most likely options:
Nothing. The lawsuit fails
or
Some form of reimbursement. Trade up to a 980, some money back, who knows.

Either way, the card performs the same as it did at launch. Advertising or not, thats something that should not be overlooked.

People in the US and specifically California may get some money in a few years after all the lawyers do their thing and take their 90%. I would expect a nice $15 check in about 2017. People in other countries and even states may have a different experience. The lawyers will get most of any settlement as usual.

Pretty much the same thing happened with the GTX660, it had the same issue, "2gb 192bit vram" claimed on the box. But 512mb of that was only accessable on a 64bit bus. And yet there was no such commotion and lawsuits as there are with the 970. wonder why? I would have liked to get my money back on my 660, because that missing vram, although didn't affect the card on release, affected it down the track when games started using above 1.5gb vram. I found myself in the position of selling my cards and getting a 7970 3gb which i was finally able to get smooth frame rates and no crashes with in vid mem heavy titles. When you looked at vid mem usage, the gtx660 never used more than 1500mb. As soon as i got my 7970 the same games with same settings were at 1.8gb+ vram usage and no longer crashed.

IT will probably win. Why?

"The lawsuit is based on the specs sent to reviewers in terms of the memory capacity (4 GB), number of ROPs (64), and the capacity of the L2 cache (2 MB). However, the memory was split between 3.5 GB and 512 MB, the number of ROPs was actually 56, and the L2 cache had a smaller capacity of 1.75 MB"

Specs listed were as 64 ROpS and 2 mb of L2.

But 56 ROPS and only 1.75 mbs of l2.

So it will fail on the memory. but the specs listed may win.
