I have a gtx 970 msi. I have a a10- 6800. I get like (120-145) fps in csgo around (30-45) on bf1 on all low. My friend says that my CPU can't keep up with my gpu. So I was thinking about buying a new CPU and mobo but I just wanted to ask you guys first thanks for the help.

Solution
It's definitely the CPU, CSGO at higher frame rates is almost entirely CPU limited. I bet you would get about the same frame rates on BF1 at medium and high as you do on low because of the cpu. What is your budget? The i3 6100 and i5 6500 and a b150 motherboard are your best bets.

thanks for responding so fast I have around a five hundred dollar budget I don't know if my ram will work with the new mobo. I don't know how to check ram but I hope I have the right type.

RAM is cheap, I wouldn't forgo upgrading to skylake because of that. You need DDR4 RAM for skylake, yours is DDR3 and would need to be replaced.

This is probably a good start.

I already have a water cooler I have a gtx h100i high performance.

can't I still overclock with my water cooler

Not if the processor and motherboard don't support it. You need a K processor and a z170 board to overclock, otherwise the multiplier is locked.

Oh well I'm not really looking into overclocking just want to play with good fps does that mobo support water coolers

I know I don't need to spend the whole 500 but how much better would it be if I bought a more powerful CPU

For gaming? Not much, maybe 3-5% at best in every game except Ashes of the Singularity and Cities Skylines

Alright well thanks I look into buying them.
