Gtx 970 lower fps then others.

So i have a gtx 970 and i usually play cs go i have all the settings on low and get 100-300 fps. Now this is not right because i have been looking at fps tests and people get about 400-500 fps with a 970. My friend has a gtx 680 and he has 400 fps on all low the only reason im worried about this is because i try to record whilst i play and the fps drops below 100.
All my specs:
Cpu: i5 4460 3.2ghz
Gpu:Gigabyte nvidia gtx 970
Motherboard: Msi 787-g55
Power supply: Corsair cx 600w

I really hope someone can help me.

any little thing can be the differance . heck you could take 2 identical computers and they wount score the same ..

Go into 3d settings set it to performance and make sure all settings are on high performance not quality

I went in to 3d settings and it was only 1 thing to put to high from quality?

Maybe the performance is worse because i only have 1x8gb ram not 2x4gb ram so it's going slower?

Possible. Dual channel RAM does have a performance advantage.
