Question GTX 970: No video output when motherboard in UEFI mode

Jun 11, 2020
Just finished a new build with all new hardware, except I'm using my old GTX 970 until the next gen of GPUs are released. So far installing Windows keeps failing, and I believe it's because the motherboard needs to be in UEFI mode and not CSM mode for the installer to properly format the disk. However, the GPU only works when the motherboard boots in CSM mode and not UEFI mode. In UEFI mode, the monitor does not recognize that it is plugged in at all. I've tried on each HDMI and DP port (I don't have a DVI adapter, so I haven't tried DVI yet). Any tips on how to get everything to play nice together?
  • Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 Unify (BIOS version 7C35vA42)
  • GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 970
