GTX 970 not working

When i plug the card into my PC (which works with a different card) it starts spinning so i know its getting power however when i plug it into my monitor i get no signal however when i plug into my motherboard i get signal. since i could get image through my motherboard i check devices and there is no card showing up. I don't know where to go from here xD

CPU- i7 4790
RAM- 16gb DDR3 corsair
Motherboard- Gigabyte H81M-S2H
GPU- Geforce GTX 1080 (because the 970 is not inside)
Storage- 125gb SanDisk SSD and 1TB Seagate HDD
but this card has worked inside this PC before.

Does the MB have the newer BIOS?
