Question GTX 970 on older motherboard

Can I use a GTX 970 or RX 480 on a TA990FXE
Motherboard?
The TA990FXE is a PCIe 2.0

Trying to keep an old rig alive.
FX 6300
16 GB of PC-3 10666
PSU 650w

Definetly can, and it's a great upgrade to keep that machine working for a few more years for lighter games.

go for it. The 970 should go well with that setup. The gpu combined with 16 GB ram is enough for smooth 720p or even 1080p, it depends on the game.
