Gtx 970 or 1060 3Gb?

Hy Guys

I look to upgrade a PC with either a GTX 970 or a GTX 1060 3Gb.
The 6Gb isn´t an option because the crypto-mining craze bumped them up to 300+ in my country while both said cards are available for around 200$.

So which one would you recommend me more for 1080p Gaming?

definitely the gtx 1060
i personally have the mobile version with 6gb of ram but its more than enough for me

970 is better than a 1060 3gb IMO.

it depends the 1060 has some stronger points than the 970

for example it runs fallout 4 and grand theft auto
if it were the gtx 1060 6gb it would out rank the 970 for sure but the 970 does seem overall to be better than the 1060

Thx for the replies. Well the Card will be used for 1080p Gaming exclusively. Playing mainly Fortnite so far. Also waiting for Battlefront 2 in November. Maybe i play some games like ME: Andromeda or Witcher 3 here and there, but i don´t see me buying a high-end GPU for playing those titles a couple of hours or a bit more. The Games i spend most time on are usually not require the highest specs.

battlefront and fortnight? than i recommend the 970 however if you can get your hands on one the 1060 with 6gbs makes all the difference

The 970 vs the 1060 3gb is like the older and RX 480 vs RX 570.

On paper they perform similarly but on a physical hardware level both of those 2 cards are actually stronger.

There are points where the 970 will win outright , there are points where the 1060 3gb will win by an similar margin.

I'd still take a 970 personally ifbits of a similar standard model .
970s are generally immensely overclockable , the 1069 3gb models not so much.

yeah but that extra 3 gbs on the 1060 makes all the difference in the benchmarks

Ok, thank you very much.
I can get a MSI GTX 970 for around 210€. I think i will get that one.
Even the cheapest 1060 6Gb´s are not below 300€... and im already talking of Ebay!
I saw some shops selling MSI 1060 6Gb for 330€...

The 1060 3gb is gimped (it has less cuda cores & shaders than the 6gb aswell as half the vram)
Essentially it isn't really a 1060.

But yes if it were the 6gb model then that would be the recommendation.
