Hello guys so im building a new gaming rig that i'll be hardcore gaming on it at 1080p res , so what do you guys think 970 vs 390(dx12) for future proof like 3 years maxed out settings, the only thing is keeping me away from the 970 is the 512mb slow ram other than that its a great gpu but i have seen alot of topics talking that amd is beating nvidia in dx12 so im really confused because i'm a fan of nvidia(less heat more power efficiency and the most important gameworks cuz its pretty cool), note: i'll be overclocking the gpu to its limit and with non sli or crossfire for now so whats your opinion does dx12 worth leaving nvidia and go to amd for now ???here's my specs:
Mobo:Asus z170A
Cpu: intel i5 6600k
Cpu cooler: hyper evo 212
Ram:crucial balistix 8gb ddr4 2400
Psu: 650 watt or 750 not sure yet
hdd:wd 1tb hdd , 128gb intel 730 ssd
...Thx guys in advance and sorry for my bad english

I would go for the 390, I have a 970 and it's great, but the 390 has nearly identical performance in games while having over double the vram. The extra vram also allows for better crossfiring in the future. Yes it runs hotter, but it still has room for overclocking and will give good results. AMD cards in general are not as "stable" as nvidia, but still very good cards. Anyways, I would go AMD in this case. Here is a comparison video if you are interested.

If you like the nvidia brand, then weigh the cost options (or at least look at them). My previous card was an AMD and as mentioned it ran hot, AND loud. I have a 970 from EVGA and it's the coolest and quietest card I've ever owned. I also love using shadowplay over FRAPS (and I loved using FRAPS). So not just what each card can offer but what the coolers are offered by who is something to consider. I like my EVGA and have no issues looking at an EVGA 980ti or something else in a year because I've enjoyed this card.

For bang for buck, the 390 could edge it out (though I still think its a popularity contest in most posts) but I wouldn't say the AMD would run circles around a 970 if your gut was leaning towards staying with nvidia. Now if a 390 is 65$ cheaper than the 970 you want... okay AMD looks good =p
