So I currently have a gtx 780 ti Matrix, as i bought it a few weeks ago, so i can still return it. Now that the gtx 900s have released do you think, that getting a gtx 970 and maybe upgrading to 2 way SLI later or keeping the gtx 780 is more futureproof?

Solution
Jip, much more, the GTX780ti has always been overpriced, by getting a single GTX970 and then following up with another GTX970 a few months later, you get a LOT more performance at a much more cost effective price as well.

I thank you for your opinion, good sir!

This is true in the 1080P form, but at higher resolution the 780 Ti is significantly better, also the 780 Ti is better with MSAA,AA,V sync and all the screen smoothing stuff in term of performance.

But hey i won't argue because the bang for the buck of the 970 is unmatched so far, but i still think the 780 Ti as a better card for the upcoming 4K display especially in SLi.

If 780ti is your first card and you can still return, I agree that you're better off swapping it for a 970. Generally 970 isn't much faster than 780ti but performance it offers per dollar is much better (970/980 also consumes nearly half the power comparing to 700 series), it's also a current gen card. If you already had a 780ti and just got a second one for sli, then I'd say leave it as is. I just got a second 780ghz for sli after the price drop to compliment my other 1yr old 780ghz. In my case it seemed worthwhile instead of selling existing card, and my power supply can handle both. Hope it helps your decision making process.
