I'm on my first computer build, and I have the MSI gtx 980 on my list, but I'm wondering if I should degrade my GPU to a Gtx 970 for better storage, and maybe a better CPU.

I play games like BF4,Farcry 4, WOT, WT, and web games (when I'm bored).

Thankyou for reading (it's pretty short)

I've got a i7 4770K overclocked at 4.5 GHz and two GTX 980s overclocked at 1598 MHz driving my 144 Hz monitor. I gotta say, if you're gonna be playing games on a high refresh rate like that? Then I suggest you get the GTX 980. Once you truly go 144 hz, I just don't think there's a way to go back. I can't wait till they release that 144 Hz IPS panel.

Sure, if you want your games running 30 FPS or below.

Get the 980 for sure. Even if you have to wait a bit to save the extra money. I run the i5-4690k with a 980 on a 60htz 4k screen and once you see it, you will be amazed. BF4 looks ridiculous in 4k and you could easily run high to ultra with 35 to 45 fps. Far cry 4, I have to turn some of the setting down a bit (mostly on high) but even on low in 4k looks better than ultra in 1080p. Hope it helps.

brandxbeer, thanks but, I'll be playing on t080p, and I'm not sure if the gtx 980 will be used fully. If it's not, I'd like to save money and get the gtx 970, and upgrade my cpu, and other parts that aren't good enough. Thanks though, it helps.

A single GTX 970 will not be able to drive todays games above 100 FPS constantly. My GTX 980, when I only had one, would only give me about 120 - 130 FPS average. I bought the second one to make sure that other games will result me in games giving me 144 Hz or more.

I entered my post before the OP made the statement with the PC part picker link. Rapid posts and I missed it. Calm down.

I missed your pcpart picker link. Just out of curiousity, why are you picking the Gaming 9 motherboard? Are you wanting to serious overclock? SLI?

Really? Didn't seem like it. But oh well. Moving on.
