Hello people of the internet. Recently my GTX 670 has been pooping on me with its annoying problems, crashes, not displaying and basically it's just being a douche bag and I can't take it anymore at all. I don't want to spend more than $350. I know the GTX 970 is freaking God, but the 290 I've seen with good coolers for around $300 where as most 970's are $330 and up. Anyways any help would be awesome.

Gtx 970 just had a law suit filed against them for false representations so... Buy the R9-290 if you do some fancy magic you can get 2k like resolution along with amd gaming evolved. But, if you like nvidia and don't want a GTX 970.douchebag then get the GTX 960 which is just a less buffed up and a not a 8gb card (which doesn't matter anyways

R9 290 is an excellent card and is great for both 1080P and 1440P. I just think it's better at higher res due to GTX 970 VRAM issue. I have two R9 290's for a year now and they're great. Specially when overclocked you gain that 5 - 10 FPS. But at 1080P you'll be more then set with an R9 290. IMO it's the best card price/performance ratio.

I was looking at most of the R9 290's and they require an 8pin? I have a SilverStone 1000watt PSU but since it is modular and got it second hand, I didn't get any 8pin connectors. I was to get one of these 290's would one(or two) these work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200420
