Hi,

I recently bought a gigabyte gtx970 4GB and a 27" asus 1080p monitor.

I am thinking about returning the monitor to get a 24" asus 1440p monitor for a better pixel density.

Would the R9 290X 4GB be better than the GTX970 4GB because of the issues with the gtx970 being capped at 3.5GB and all that? or will it run just as good on a 1440p monitor?

Thanks for your help in advance! :)

PS: I have an intel xeon 1241 v3 3.5ghz and 8gb ram.

The 970 will run cooler, but if you look around you might find a 290x for cheaper. Since you already have the 970, just keep it.

P.S. The 970 is not "capped" at 3.5GB, the first 3.5GB has twice the bandwidth that that last .5GB has which means that it performs worse. It's likely never going to matter.
