Gtx 970 or R9 290x

Hey guys so i have been looking around for a new graphics card and i have narrowed it down to 2 of them the 970 and the 290x. Which one would be better for 1080p on max settings in a enthoo pro. Also which one would have a cooler temperature?

GTX 970 is far cooler than the 290X. The GTX 970 generally performs better. 290X runs at 90-95 degrees. GTX 970 is 50-60 degrees or something.
