I tried googling my issues to no avail, and searching this site, so I thought the only way to get a direct answer was to make a thread.
Just recently I have upgraded my gtx 570 to a gtx 970, but i've been having very wierd issues.
1. My sound keeps crackling out during cutscenes in videogames and I get insanely low fps. An example of this happening is opening battlefield.battlelog.com web page, it brings down my desktop fps to 10-15 and makes my gpu usage go to 90%+
2. under CPU-Z, under the mainboard tab, under graphic interface my link width is listed as x1 but max supported is x16.
It is the same in GPU-Z. I tried switching the slots my videocard is in and I also tried resetting the card and making sure everything was in snug. I tried looking in my Bios for PCI-Express settings to tweak from googling but I cannot edit anything of that sort in my bios.
3. Games like BF4 and Shadow of Morder run very slow, but games like Metro last light run perfectly fine maxed out with no dips. Im guessing it's the link width issue.
4. I lag heavily during pre-rendered cutscenes in games like Metro Last Light, on the flip side have absolutely no FPS issue playing the actual game. I have no idea what could possibly be causing this or how it is occurring.
I tried googling these issues and searching these very forums and tried all solutions I found and came up fruitless so i'm hoping I could find some help here.
I have tried reinstalling drivers several times, reinserting the videocard into different PCI-E x16 slots several times, and looking in my Bios for relevent information to no avail.
My specs:
Cpu: Intel Core i5 655K
Gpu: Gigabyte Gtx 970
8 gb DDR3 ram
power supply is good
Motherboard: Asus p7p55d-E pro
Nothing is overheating, the computer has good circulation and is dust free.
I'm pretty sure the issue is due to the link width being x1 when it should be x16, I have no idea how to fix this.
So far my pc has been acting worse since this upgrade, thanks in advanced.
