GTX 970 Pin Connectors

Hey guys,

First time building a computer! I got the gtx 970 and it has 2 6 pin connectors. How I'm I supposed to connect this? I don't have a VGA cable that is 12 pins. Do I get 2 VGA cables that are 6 pins and insert on the 970? My power supply has VGA 1, VGA 2, VGA 3 etc. So do I just connect a VGA cable in VGA 1 and VGA 2 and put them in my gtx 970? Any help would be appreciated!

It's not VGA, it's PCI-E.
If it says VGA, then it probably means the connectors on the card PCB.
A PCI-E connector looks like this:

And the ports on the card like this:

You need to plug in two of the cables on the ports.

Note that the one on the right in the first image is the 8 pin connector(or 6+2 as is also called).
The second one shows the corresponding sockets. Just plug in square for square, round for round. And it's a little tight, so don't try to force it.

This is my power supply EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 Gold+. It doesn't have any PCI-E connectors. It only has VGA connectors. I was told VGA is the same thing as PCI-E connectors. My GTX 970 has 2 6 pin connectors. Here's a picture showing the 2 6 pin connectors.

They are the same. I assume your power supply came with 6+2 pin cables? Plug one into VGA1 and another into VGA2 then plug them into your GPU.

Sorry I know this is just an easy concept but I'm still so confused 🙁. I apologize. A 6+2 pin cable means it has 6 pin connector with an additional 2 pin connector off the strip, correct? If I used 2 6+2 pin cables then that would mean I have 4 pins left over? The 4 pins left over are from the 2 pins off the 6 pins. Sorry if this is confusing. Would I be able to just use 2 VGA cables which are 6 pins and not a 6+2 pin?

If you have 6 pin cables use those. It will look neater than having unused connectors from the 6+2 pin cables.

You'll have 4 pins left over, in a way.
See the image I posted above? You'll have the cables on the right(6+2 pin) on your power supply. The 6 pin part of both 6 pin and 6+2 pin cables is the same. Just connect the 6 pin part on the card and tie the two pin part with the cable using a plastic zip-tie. It doesn't matter if you don't connect the 2 pin part anywhere.
