Hello,

I'm trying to connect two monitors to my 970 SLI set up. Both monitors only have a DVI connector so I bought a DVI-HDMI converter. When either monitor is plugged in with the HDMI port it doesn't get a signal. When I look at my computer settings it says that both monitors are DVI, even though one is connected through the HDMI cable. I've searched the forums but can't find a solution.

I think the basic problem might be that the computer thinks the HDMI port is a DVI port but I can't seem to find a way to change the output to HDMI. I'm kind of at a loss here... Any help with be appreciated.

Things I've tried:

When I go into Screen Resolution and try to "Extend these displays" it tells me "The display settings could not be saved. Please try a different combination of display settings." I get this same error when I try to do anything that enables the 2nd monitor.

When I go to Set up Multiple Displays in the Nivida Control panel it shows a second display as a DVI(again, its hooked up through HDMI), but it wont let me click the box to enable it. Nothing happens why I try to click or right click it.

Other things I've tried:

Updating drivers(no changes)
Changing settings on monitor(no changes)
Connecting monitors with to laptop instead of desktop via HDMI(same problem)
Restarting everything multiple times(no changes)
Unplugging the DVI monitor and only using one with the HDMI connector(still black screen)
Only plugging in a single monitor using the HDMI connector(no changes)
Disabling SLI then trying all of the above again(no changes)
