Which is better?

Gainward GTX970 reference or Zotac GTX970 reference

Zotac is more expensive about $10 (converted from my country's currency) .

Im going to water cooled it eventually and from what I've heard reference cards have high compatibility with these things. I can only buy either one of those cards due to budget problems.

both basically have the same clock speed, so I'd go with the cheaper one. But like you said $10 isn't much, so if you like the look of one more than the other you won't be disappointed with either card. Also, these cards run much cooler than their AMD counterparts therefore you may not even need to watercool the thing unless you plan on overclocking it.

Sweet thanks for the reply man. Already bought the Gainward 970 reference after seeing a youtuber uses the exact same card for his videos. It would probably arrived here in about 1-3 days time. I probably would OC a bit.
