Is it possible to run a GTX 970 SLI on my Corsair CX 600W PSU? Currently running a single MSI GTX 970 Gaming and a i7-4790K. Just got offered by a friend to buy his 970 for a great discount and was wondering if I needed to upgrade my good old PSU (Corsair CX 600W PSU)? And if so any suggestions?

The MSI GTX 970 Gaming should use around 148W per unit.

I'l be happy for any reply :D

Both cards max power consumption is 500W- 500w/12v rail 41 amps +-.5 Corsair 600W you listed is +3.3V@25A, +5V@25A, +12V@46A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@3.0A.

12v@46amp
46A-41A=5A

It is single rail, so your 5 AMPS will be eaten by your CPU, motor drives, and more. So you do NOT have enough 12v sadly :(

typically you want at least a 15-25% overhead on your 12V rail left after all is done. so say you have a 100amp 12rails, cards take 60a, cpu and the rest take 10A-15A. leave 25A 25%.

I highly recommend This PSU

It is highly recommended and will supply power for both your card and more, its a rank 2 PSU which means its very good and reliable. The price is not bad either. I hope this was detailed enough and helps you out.

Yeah i think it might not be sufficient. I visited the site that I bought it from and found a badge that said SLI support so i figured that it had the required cables.
Thank you for the reply :)
