I am currently in the process of building my first PC and was wondering whether I should get the GTX 970 SLI or GTX 980. I know that the GTX 970 SLI would be significantly more powerful but my only concern is some games not supporting SLI. How large of an issue is this?

As an additional point I will be gaming at 1440p

Thanks in advance

okay two 970s is around 700$ 1 980 is around 500-600$ I would get 980 because some games don't support SLI and if you have SLI youll have stuttering and the performance between sli 970 and a single 980 is the 970 gives 28-24% more performance which is not that great I would get the 980 and save the 100-200$

But a single 980 isn't that much better than a single 970 (~15% more fps, ~60% more expensive), so if a single 980 was my serious consideration, I'd probably opt for a 970, and wait for next gen cards for upgrade.

So unless a game fps makes or breaks by the difference between 970 or 980, I'd go single 970.

I am about to have my first experience with SLI though, so only time will tell if I regret my double 970's purchase (granted this is paired with Swift).
