Hi everyone, I was looking to upgrading my GPU from an ASUS GTX 750 ti to something much better. I am really not happy with that card. I need a GPU that will be able to handle 3D modeling work and high rendering. I would also be using it for video games. I was thinking on buying a GTX 780 ti but then the new 900 series came out and now I'm not sure if i should just get one GTX 980 or GTX 970 SLI.
I want to spend around $800 CND. I hope someone can help me with this problem.

Maybe someone can suggest something according to my current build:
ASUS Z97-A
i7-4790K
850W PSU
SSD, M.2, HDD

I will be running one 4k monitor

What if im running two 1080 monitors

Not trying to high jack this thread or anything, but it seems as good a place as any to ask. I am running SLI GTX 670's (2gb models) right now on dual and sometimes triple 1080P monitors. I game on one and watch videos/movies on the other. What I am seeing is a stutter in the Netflix or DVD feed on the one monitor while my gaming monitor is fine. The same is true in reverse.

Thoughts

Go with the 980, as it has about 500 more CUDA cores and is faster. One 980 is cheaper then 2 970s, and will run better due to it only being one card, so it wont have any issues with not performing better than a single card when you actually have 2 cards. Plus, the thread isn't about gaming, but modeling. I dabble in 3D work myself, and I can vouch on CUDA cores.
