gtx 970 sli running slow on gta v

i have ga-z77x-ud3h mb
2x sli evga 970's
i7-3770k
16 GB ram
brand new 900w 4 24v rail pcu

and averaging approx 45 fps in gta V with settings suggested by geforce experience, which is all max except some scaling i believe. however, i am seeing people with single 970's reporting better bench's. wassup?

Try disabling SLI and see if you can achieve similar results. I've yet to SLI/Crossfire but it always seems to cause trouble for others.

lellllllllllll running all maxed out on one 970 getting better results than sli.... burrrr. and to satisfy sizzling curiosity, that was at 1600x900

Since GTA 5 is a rather new game, I'd expect multi GPU rigs to suffer a bit. Just give it time. Anyway, glad I was able to solve your problem.

In which case are your drivers up to date? Sounds like poorly optimised driver. Does your sli perform well with other games?

It has nothing to do with drivers or SLI. You are eating through 3.5 gb of ram. Lower your settings to get under 3.5 and it'll run much smoother. Also dont trust the vram estimator in game. The game eats up way more than what it estimates. Lower 1 or two textures and disable all advanced graphics settings.

I run absolutely everything maxed out with a single GTX 970 4G Gaming and get around 60-80 FPS average. Just something to base your performance off of. Hope you figured it all out mate

In my opinion it is not vram by the fact a single card performs better and that its quite a low screen resolution being used. I confident this is a poor driver which with any luck will be fixed soon with a new driver release

I think he means 3.5GB of vRAM is being distributed between 2 cards as opposed to a single card.
