Gtx 970 sli vs 980 ti hybrid

I currently have x2 r9 380s but I want to upgrade to the gtx 900 series now I know that a single 980 is better then sli 970s be cause you don't have to deal with sli problems but I like the look of two gpus in my pc. Does the diffrence in the two matter that much? I don't want to make the wrong choice

970SLI is more powerful than a 980Ti.
However, wait for some pascal cards, no reason to buy Maxwell.
