I got a replacement 970 SSC from EVGA and the benchmarks i've done isn't beating my old GTX 780 SC.... How is this possible? They say its definately better or they wouldn't send it ofc but from what I see, it sure ain't beating my 780.... in Heaven benchmarks or the Tomb Raider 2013 bench.

My 780 SC just has the nvdia driver didn't respond and has recovered issue so I rma'd it and they sent me the 970 SSC 2975 version ofc not the newer model. But its about 10 fps lower in Tomb Raider and for the Valley bench it scored a 2205 and my 780 hit 2776.... and its avg was 55.6 my 780 was 66.4, high was only 101.3 my 780 124.5....

My 780 is killing it according to these whats going on?

The GTX 780 has more memory bandwidth than the GTX 970 and that's probably why it scores a bit higher in some benchmarks but the GTX 970 is better than the GTX 780 overall. The GTX 970 was made to replace the GTX 780.
I don't have the 780Ti I have a normal 3GB EVGA GTX 780 SC edition. But yeah the 970 SSC was performing slower. Would you guys say tell them to send me my same card back or keep the 970 SSC?

The GTX 970 is better than the GTX 780 and the sc version beats a reference GTX 780 ti according to this guy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZxpljkrsm8 He said that before he overclocked his GTX 780 ti the SC 970 beat the 780 ti in every test. And your is a ssc card so it should be even better than the sc version. I'm telling you it has to be a driver issue. Did you try doing a clean install when you installed the driver?

Actually if I recall I did not do a fresh driver install. I should give that a shot now. and I'll let you know, its exactly what I thought a 970 SSC should definately beat my 780SC and if that guys 780Ti was losing mine definately should. Thanks for the input, a lot. This is really frustrating.

Just did a clean install new drivers and Tomb Raider and it was 780: 68.0 - 97.3 -77.8 970 SSC: 70 - 97.3 - 77.5 so the 970 won in one catagory but avg fps it was a tiny bit lower.

BUT in heaven Valley benchmark it was still a HUGE win for the 780 SC. Score 2505 970 and a score of 2776 for the 780 its avg FPS was 16 fps more, and the high was 14 fps more. But the min was HIGHER with the 970....

GAH this is all so confusing ><
