I want to get dual monitors for my pc, I already have a Samsung S24D590PL monitor connected to my GTX 970 with a hmdi cable, would a DVI-I to hdmi cable for my other monitor do the job?

Solution
Well you could use either, if you get the display port to HDMI, won't you need another HDMI cable to connect to it, then to your screen?

Wouldn't it be easier to get the DVI-I to hdmi? That way it can plug directly into your pc and screen?
(I'm assuming your screens will use HDMI plugin?)

Thanks! It says there it has Dual Link DVI-I, HDMI 2.0, 3x DisplayPort 1.2 connections, HDMI is in use, so should I go for displayport to HDMI or DVI-I to hdmi? (It's an GTX 970 ASUS STRIX btw)

My screen has a HDMI slot, but my graphics card has DVI-I and Display ports, which one should I use, DVI-I or one of the display ports?

It doesn't really matter which one you use.

If you were using the screen for sound (which I don't think you are), then you wouldn't be able to use DVI.

You can look at the specific differences here:
http://www.cnet.com/news/hdmi-vs-displayport-vs-dvi-vs-vga-which-connection-to-choose/

One notable thing is that if you get a 4k monitor, HDMI only supports up to 30 FPS on it.

Otherwise, it just comes down to which one you prefer, which is cheapest / easiest to get? :)

Ordered screen and found a HDMI cable laying around, so I'll just use that! Thank you very much!
