Hi guys/gals, I've just upgraded my ASUS HD 7750 to a GTX 970, and the resulting performance increase isn't what I was expecting. I've loaded up Wolfenstein: The New Order and every time I turn the mouse textures load in and there seems to be significant slowdown.

I have all the settings on ultra, but i'm getting maybe 3/40 FPS at best, and to be honest I was expecting more from this card. I've installed new drivers, so i'm not entirely sure whats up with it. Can anyone shed some light on the issue?

Thanks

My Processor is an AMD A8-5500 APU 3.20ghz, I have 12gb of RAM too.

Your processor is a quad core with onboard gfx (Radeon HD 7560D). Given the GTX970 is a mid table, high end GPU (only the GTX980 and 980Ti surpass it) I'd hazard a guess that your CPU isn't capable of providing enough data to the GPU....looking at other posts on the same CPU/GPU combination most responses appear to agree:

I'd suggest looking at a CPU upgrade within the same family otherwise your looking at spending a bunch of money going to a whole new architecture

Thanks for the info.

What CPU would you reccomend?

Looking on AMD's website, yours is an FM2 processor so the highest A8 CPU in that family is the A8-5600K.

I'm no CPU expert so I don't know for example if FM2+ and FM2 are backwardly compatible (i.e if you can have an FM2+ mobo and fit and FM2 APU into it)

You need to confirm what socket type your motherboard is (fingers crossed its FM2+) as this opens up a whole new generation of APU's, right up to the A8-6600K.

I also don't know if you're able to fit A10 APU's, as if you could then you'd potentially be able to upgrade to an A10-6790K

Post on the motherboards or CPU's forum regarding the above and see what answers you get.

Good luck.
