Hey guys, I recently bought a new 970 gtx turbo, it's only a few days old and the card constantly makes like a buzzing/rattling sound. I tested to see if it's the fan, and it is. I would press softly on the fan and the noise would reduce, or when completely stopped there would be no buzzing/rattling noise at all. Is this normal for this build? Or is the fan faulty? I also created a youtube link. so you know how it sounds.

Is this with the card under load or idle / low usage?

I own a gigabyte 970 which sounds differently. At any rate do not push on the card while in use under any circumstance. If it makes this noise while idle or under 50% fan speed it is definately not normal and you should RMA it.

And the card is under no load, just idle low usage. I was playing with the speed via Asus GPUtweak, it makes a whirling noise when it drops down to idle speed, and still makes a slight buzzing/rattling.

Edit: Link to how the GPU sounds on bootup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbLPiVCIEDE

the 100% fan usage on boot its normal. You can hear the fan spin up and down, separately from the rattleing sound. THat is generally sign that something is loose in your case / gpu casing - like a nut or bolt. Vibrations can be passed down to other parts from fans. I would try re-seating the card (switch off the pc). Check all the screws in the imeddiate vicinity, including mobo mounting. If you fail to find the culprit just RMA the card, you got a valid reason.

had a similar noise in my case in the end it turn out to be the sata power cable attached to my ssd was vibrating against the side panel of the case..

I have the same issue. Noise at 28% (idle) fan speed is very annoying, raising it manually to 32% is much better. Any solutions? Maybe I can set the minimum fan speed to 32%?

Set the minimum fan speed to 32% in MSI Afterburner software. But still annoying.
