I know it's been asked before but i will ask again. I have had my GTX 970 for 4 years now and it's been a fantastic card, but is it time to get the RTX 2080? I have an i7-7700K, 16GB ram. I want to get the RTX 2080 and a new Corsair RM850x White 850 Watt. I only play race sims, Assetto Corsa and all the others. I also have a Dell 27" Dell S2716DG 1440p monitor so a decent card can run it properly. Is it worth the upgrade from my GTX 970

Then choose one and go for it. 2070 is a decent card to save some money, but if money isn't a problem, go with the latest and greatest...
sure if you have the money, it will be an amazing upgrade. But you realise your monitor is still only 60hz
You will max it out easily, but a 1080ti will do the same, but also 2070 would be enough.
All depends if this raytracing ever takes off and actually makes games look that much better. Since right now it hits the GPU about 25%

I wouldn’t even consider ray tracing at this point. Although supported Nvidia’s own cherrypicked examples couldn’t hold a minimum of 60fps @ 1080p. Really think it’s more a marketing gimmick at this point, maybe in a couple more gpu generations it might become practical. This would also explain why there are no games that currently support it.

Therefore I see little reason to buy a 2080 when the 1080Ti can do the same job for less. Only benefit I see is NVLink instead of Sli but unless you really want to go multi gpu this doesn’t matter either.

Thanks for reply. Infact my monitor is a 144hz max, check this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01784K78A?ref=em_1p_3_ti&ref_=pe_1980281_324629661

That's why i bought the monitor, for that and it's 1ms response time. As for the money, thats not an issue

Sorry, yes it's an i7-7700K, i will amend original post. Didn't use my glasses.

Only be careful because not all people have money to spend so they try and warn you, but if you got the cash then splash!
