Hey, i have enough money to buy a gtx 780ti or a 970. First of all, which of thoes cards are fastest? 2nd question, should i wait for the gtx 980 price drop? I have a gtx 470 atm. The gtx 780ti costs 360, gtx 970 275-300. I think the gtx 980 will cost 380 after the price drops

I don't usually necro, but seeing as this came up on google, I'd just like to point out that above poster is spouting from his backside: GTX980 is not overkill at 4k, nothing is. The GTX 970 is slightly slower than the 780ti but so much more technically advanced due to newer tech. Upon OCing the 780ti and the 970 you will find the 970 comes out faster in every case.

GTX980 currently doesn't have any AMD rival so Nvidia are overpricing it, so if you really want it you will have to wait from AMD to bring out a competitor. That's when the price will drop.
The GTX 980 is the fastest card at the moment. The 970 and 980 also feature new tech and lower power consumption resulting in more overclocking overhead and lower temps. Any of those cards will be a huge upgrade from your current one. The 970 is probably the best, if not one of the best price to performance out there at the moment. I'd go for the 970 considering it's such good bang for buck.

Hey, I totally recommend the GTX 970 its fast, its great for 1080p or 1440p and does ok at 4k on some games.

Im using a 980 and I love it but its over kill for games at 4k, The I've tested the 980 with all get above 60fps at 4k

Bio-shock infinite (Maximized out, Full AA, everything on maximin) @4k

Gtx 980:
Avg:66fps
Min: 21fps
Max:146fps
