Hello, guys!

I am building my first PC build and now I am up to choose my GPU. I have been looking for GTX 970 all the time, but then the RX 480 (feeling sketch about AMD, anyway :/) came out. What GPU do you recommend for me? I will playing CS:GO, BF3/4.

Thanks!

Thew GTX 1060 is rumored to cost between $250 and $300. Rumors say it will be faster than the RX 480, but it will cost more too. The 1060's will come with 3GB or 6GB of memory. The 3GB model will NOT support SLI. The 6GB model will do SLI.

I look at it this way. If you want something faster than the RX480, move on up to the GTX 1070. Its available at the list price of $379 in most places, and its almost as fast as the GTX 1080.

Then again, if you are wealthy, the new GTX Titan will be released next month for $999 and be 50% faster than the GTX 1080...
I'd wait for the 1060 which is out in the next week or two. The 970 is great but wont perform as well as other cards in new DX12 games, the 480 seems to have some power teething problems and variable performance depending on the game. By then the 480 might have settled and you will have an extra option

I dont kinda think, that I am down for waiting the 1060. Perhaps it will still be around same level as 970.

Sorry to interrupt. But how much will the 1060 cost?

I'd expect it to be about 970 performance for the current generation of games but should support DX12 better in future games, it might have more VRAM and should run cooler and use less power. Now is just an awkward time to buy a gpu as both AMD and NVidia are launching new cards. If you have the option of an older or newer generation cards with similar performance I would take the newer card, it should support newer features and be supported longer

RFX 480 4GB. Those use less power, run faster than the GTX 970 in almost all games, and apparently, this first batch of RX480's has 8gb on the board, and a BIOS update will activate the extra 4GB. I have not tested that myself. So take it with a grain of salt.

In the reviews I have seen the 480 is ahead a little in about 1/3 of games, the about 1/3 of games its on par and the rest it was behind. A couple of games it was well behind, hence my comment about variable performance.

What about 1060? Maybe it really should been worth for waiting? Will I really do that bad with 970, anyway? :/

nvidia was about to launch 1060. i think it is better to wait just a bit to learn what 1060 true capability are. then you can decide which card will suit your need the best. about pricing we don't know about that yet. but if they end up competitive with AMD offering then we might see the fun part after that.

The 970 is a great card but you might just regret not waiting for the 1060 when future games start using DX12
