gtx 970 went up to 100 degrees according to msi afterburner

so i was just playing far cry 4 on high i have the gtx 970 reference card i heard 80C° is pretty normal but 100C° fuck have not even heard of it going that high. I ordered it from bestbuy and took it with me to iceland in flight, a little bit of bruises on the box it was in a cabinet for a few months then i put it in my computer my motherboard is a msi h97 pcmate and im getting fucking scared as nvidia said 94C° is the max temp for the gtx 970 keep in mind i have the reference model AND even the fan was on 100%

What does NVidea read the temperature as? Have you compared the temperature with any other utility?
100 Degrees the card would surely be thermal throttling and shutting off so I think afterburner may be off.

have 3 different softwares detecting the same temp also when i run the game without the fan on hundred or something it makes a kettle sound.

Sounds broken to me. It should throttle and shutoff at those temps. You may be able to get better ventilation but it would be more of a band aid than a fix.
