You will definitely bottleneck m8. The best pair with the gtx 970 is the i5 4670. Closest AMD processor you can get to that CPU is the FX 8350. I recommend you sticking with the r9 270, and upgrading your Mobo + cpu. Cheers
yes you can use them together but its not the best combo
-you will need 2 separate driver application one for amd cpu and one for nvivda gpu
-you will not be using the a10 full graphical potential i would recommend a swap to Intel if your set on nvida
-a10 works great with other amd products in unison with mantle or even crossfire
there will be a minor bottle neck nothing to bad, because this cpu is built for gpu tasks
because you already i have an amd cpu i would recommend and amd gpu while not necessary it will work better and have less issues in your system
? why use a 7850 with a 970 ???? You be better off with a 8320 and the 970 the 8320 costs less then the 7850 .... The only thing I would recommend to you is to upgrade to a r290 or a r290x ...

I imagine it's because he's not on an AM3+ socket motherboard.

Yeah that's what I seen after I wrote lol my bad he yes would be better with a 970 or 990 fx board but hes already got the fm2+ board it will still game but future cards are going to be bottleneck by that cpu/apu..... If it was me I would hold off awhile for the rest of the year and see what AMD had to offer the first of next year they are suppose to come out with a new ZEN CHIP.... to replace the FX SO THAT would be a new board more likely since it prob be a new socket as well.

So I guess the gist of it is: Wait for another generation of CPUs to come out, or Upgrade to Intel now.
I'd say wait, since the current CPU should hold until 2016 when AMD will supposedly release AM4 socket and have FX processors again. Maybe it will spike a price war again and consumers will win.
As a former A10 owner, you will certainly encounter situations where you are CPU limited if you pair your A10 with a GTX 970.
BUT it would still be a worthwhile upgrade imo. The majority of games these days are GPU bound anyway, and if you have any plans at all to upgrade your CPU & mobo in the future then just think of the 970 as an investment
