Hey lads,

I've been thinking about this for a long time now, and thought that before I buy either of these latptos I'd had to ask a forum. So, I am trying to choose between the ASUS GL551JW-DS74 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232405) and the MSI GS70 Stealth Pro (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152780&cm_re=MSI_GS70_stealth_pro-_-34-152-780-_-Product).

Now, the only noticeable difference between these two laptops is the fact that the MSI has a 970 instead of a 960. My question is: Is the 970 really worth 500 more dollars more than the 960? I mean they both have 16 Gigs of RAM, 1 TB HDD, 128 gig SSD, and the MSI has only 1 more gig of GPU RAM.

In the end, I really just want to know whether the MSI is worth the 500 extra dollars. I can pay that much, but I want to know if I really need to. Also, How is the build quality of MSI? I want a laptop that will last a long time and wond give me any problems.

Thanks in advance

http://www.xoticpc.com/laptop-manufacturers-really-makes-laptops-ip-11.html has a brief info blurb about both asus and msi... I've never used an msi laptop, swear by asus... have heard really good things about MSI

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Nvidia-GeForce-GTX-960M-Review.137893.0.html has a breakdown between the two and different tests... Only you can determine if you want to spend teh extra 500, but "If you look at all the tested titles you can see that the GTX 960M is more than 60% behind the GTX 970M and more than 100% behind the GTX 980M in the Ultra-preset (1920x1080, maximum detail, anti-aliasing). "

"Speaking of the highest settings: As expected, the performance of the GTX 960M is not always sufficient for the maximum...

would look to the warranty of each machine as well, along with reviews on newegg and any other sites you can find them on... get a quality control feel for each of them.

another couple of considerations, since neither of these will last long without wall current, the msi offers a bigger screen (not sure if both are ips or just asus), 3x the video memory, lighter weight, better audio from what i can tell, more ports, and double the warranty...

For this kind of money, I would pony up and get the msi honestly... just my humble opinion
