gtx 980 4gb or wait for the 8 gb version

Ok I currently have two gtx 780s in sli. The new assassins creed and shadow of mordor require more vram then my 3gb cards. I want to upgrade to one and maybe eventually two gtx980s should I wait for the 8gb version of them or go ahead and get the 4gb? Is waiting for more vram really that important. I want to be able to run all games on ultra for awhile if that's even possible. Thanks for any help. I currently have a i7 3820 processor and run games in 2560x1440p.

Actually I would wait a couple years before you upgrade at all. Even though they may need all the extra vram, there does not seem to be any real benefit for all of it actually needed. Plus they were poorly optimized anyways. I think your system will be fine.

Give it a year or 2 Imo.

I mean I'm running games on high now to keep the 60 ish fps at 1440p lol you really think I can continue on high for the next year or so
