Hi there,
I bought a 980 today (never had nvidia before), and everything is amazing sofar!! However, the the nvidia control panel, i cant find anywhere to adjust the fan speed and set a profile. CCC had this, so im not sure if nvidia's default settings are good enough. So is it possible to edit this without third party programs??

Solution

It depends on you're card and how cool it runs. Mess with the fan profile in afterburner. I like to find the quietest setting on the fan without the GPU passing 70C. If it passes that temperature then you can ramp up the fan speeds a little. 80C and under is a safe temperature. 70C and under is preferred.

Without third party programs you can probably flash the bios and change the fan speeds to ramp up based on the temperatures you choose. Although why not just use MSI afterburner? It's simple and easy to overclock the card on.

Alright. What should my fan profile look like then??

Its the gigabyte g1 gaming edition! Not sure whether to just stick with nvidia's default settings, cause im not going to oc for a while. Thank you for your help sofar though :)
Thank you

You could stick with the normal settings if you don't mind the noise. Although I would definitely overclock. I have the Gigabyte 970 and get an extra 10% performance just from overclocking. These new cards are meant to overclock.
