I can't really find anything on Google or through the forums. I got a GTX 980 FTW yesterday, an upgrade from my 770. It is better but my benchmarks are lower than the average for 980's.

Benchmark:

  • My Passmark 3DMark score: 8000 / Avg - 9600 (Note: The GTX 780 Avg's 8000)
    Fire Strike: 9000 / Avg - Roughly 10-11k (With 8350@4.0Ghz/4.5Ghz)
Real World:

  • BF4 (Maxed) - 60fps no drops.
Crysis 3 (Maxed) - Avg 50fps (Dips into 30's sometimes)

GPU Notes

  • It uses full power, no thermal throttles.
    It clocks to almost 1300
    I play 1080p/60Hz Monitor

So mine seems to be significantly lower than the average. Not to mention I have the FTW edition which has higher clocks.

After I installed the GTX 980, I ran DDU, restarted. Installed latest 980 driver. Played around. Restarted. Now I am here. My performance has increased although I feel like there might be something I can do to increase the GPU output because it seems to be sub par to what most my configs are.

I have been thinking of doing a full wipe. Just to eliminate a bunch of variables but I am almost sure it won't help. So I am looking for any ideas or suggestions as to what might give my 980 the kick it needs to get the last little bit of power. Although I realize it might not be possible (or my expectations are to high), I just feel there might be something I missed.

Does your GPU usage % max out when you experience 50 fps in crysis 3 for example? or you get like 50 fps, 60-70% usage?
9000 is not bad on firestrike, i have a 980 and i7 4790 3.6ghz and my is like 12500 on the combined test. The 8350 is like an i5 or so it can hold back your gpu in heavy situations i guess.

I'm at work right now. I want to say the GPU usage was full but I don't remember. I will check it when I get home. I am so jelly tho! I am saving for my 4790K! I want one so bad lol. Only another $600 bucks...

Yeah that's my guess to. Although I do find it interesting that some where able to get over 10k with an 8350 at stock clocks and I can't. I'm off work in a little over and hour. I only have the free version of Fire Strike as well. I am willing to test it though to compare.

I don't own them so I would have to get them by other means. (Note Picture) Lol.
