I am (slightly) new to PC gaming and I am wanting to build a gaming pc. This isn't exactly the best time due to etherium mining so nearly all gpus (especially hear in the UK) have rocketed in price. I found a gtx 980 for £220 on cex or an r9 390 for £185 from cex. Cex is fairly reputable and they have a 24 month warranty on everything. Do you feel these are goods deals and if so which one is a better deal? Or do you think I should be going for a different card entirely. Most gtx 980s and r9 390s seem to be selling for similar or higher prices on ebay uk.

Thanks in advance.

GTX980 is the equivalent/better of the 1060 6GB in power. there fore has to be the choice over a R9 390

Is the £185 card a R9 380 or R9 390? You say R9 380 in the post but R9 390 in the title. If it's an R9 380 i would personally go for the GTX 980 for the extra cash. GTX 980/R9 390 are still solid cards (the R9 380 is by no means a bad card now either) but for the price difference i would go the GTX 980 over the R9 380, if it is actually an R9 390 for that 185 that's a tough choice. The GTX 980 is slightly stronger but not sure if the price gap is worth it. May i ask what Monitor you will be using? Hope this helps :)
