I recently purchased a galax gtx 980 4gb hall of fame and installed it I ran a few demanding games and was having the time of my life however this didn't last long as my PC instantly switched off, so I restarted it an decided to monitor going performance. My gou temp peaked at 70 degrees and I used the turbo fan feature rarely. But after a while I got blue screened. I ran dying light, diablo, cod aw, and got blue screen on rust. I am running on 900w duel rail 48a 12v psi on a h77m asrock motherboard, i7 3770 intel, ddr3 8gb ram, 1tb hdd.i installed correct drivers and I am running windows 7 64bit. Do I need to upgrade my motherboard or psu or anything else? Maybe reinstall windows? Help please.

Also I get stuck on the welcome screen when I start windows now, this has never happened before and switching back to my old gtx 660 didn't fix this.

Name of PSU : ULTRAVIEW 900W ATX POWER SUPPLY 120MM FAN DUAL 12V RAILS 2x 6/8 PIN VIDEO PCI-E
According to the ebay guy I purchased it from

I feel like my motherboard is the problem because Windows is stuck on the "Welcome" Screen for a long time until I go into safe mode and restart. I got blue screened before I removed the 980. And its pretty old imo compared to a gtx 980.

I think I found the problem http://s1130.photobucket.com/user/lbret4/media/unnamed-1.jpg.html

Solution

Never heard of it. It's probably not a very reliable PSU. Recommended list here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html

Here's what you can do:
1) Run FurMark to stress test your GPU. See if it crashes then
2) Put your GPU in another PCIe slot. And test again.
3) Run the CPU stress test to make sure it isn't your CPU that is causing the problem

I think you might be getting the blue screens because either your motherboard, graphics card, or PSU isn't providing stable power supply. But the most likely culprit is your PSU.

900w is more then enough, perhaps your psu is broken ( or crap ).
I'm guessing you tried cleaning all filters and updating all drivers.

maybe you can go with a can of compressed air into your system and clean mobo and gpu?
Could be some dust causing a short ...

Highly unlikely, but possible with condensation when temps change rapidly. Also possible if your air is full of conductive materials.

My GPU Is as it came in the box I used a GTX 660 before my 980 so I don't think my PCI-E slot is damaged l reset my bios where power saving is controlled for my mobo. No change.

I have never heard of the company Ultraview, and to buy a PSU from them? That is a lot!

I would advise on changing the PSU to a better one, something like Seasonic, or Corsair etc. NEVER compromise on your PSU, if it turns bad, it will take the rest of the system out with it. Also, buy PSU from reliable brands with the rating of 80+ Bronze atleast.
