So I've been saving for quite a while now and I've got like $500 Max for a graphics card. I can't really go higher then that and because of all the graphics cards being gone I'm kinda stuck. So I was originally going to get a 1070 but they're anywhere from $650 to $850 right now. Buuuut I did find some used 980 TIs for around $500. Would it be a good idea to go for one of those instead or should I just wait it out? Also Im playing at 1080p and aiming for 144hz. Any help or input is greatly appreciated!

Solution
The 980 Ti and GTX 1070 have very similar performance. While $500 is way too much to spend. Based on pricing before the latest mining boon. If you simply can't get yourself to wait it out. Sure, buy that card.

Personally, I'd wait it out. Just get something like a used GTX 760 2GB model for $100. They are slow but decent enough. They are much faster than something like a GT 1030. When the craze dies down or manufacturers improve supply. You'll lose maybe $30 reselling the 760.

I appreciate the response man! I'm currently using my Evga SC 950 so I'll just stick with that for now. Unless an amazing deal for a 980 ti falls out of the sky.

Do you mean as a temporary thing or instead of a 980 ti or 1070?
