i have the Gigabyte GA-B85M-D2V and was wondering if i'm not gonna over clock the gtx 980ti would it work good on my motherboard
if not what is the cheapest option instead of it

Yes, your motherboard won't affect the performance of your graphics card.


so basically an upgrade would just be needed if im planing on overclocking it?
 
not if ur overclocking using software like afterburner or precisionx. it should work without any of that bios stuff. i am personally running that same card on an Asus p5e motherboard (from the yorkfield days) without issue or bios upgrade.
