GTX 9800m SLI Stuttering in Garry's Mod

Hi All,

I have been messing around with my Dell XPS M1730 (Core 2 Duo T9300, GTX 9800m SLI) and have been having weird issues with frame stutter in Garry's Mod. The game runs at a smooth 60fps on the recommended settings, but will occasionally just freeze for a fraction of a second, which is extremely frustrating.

I have tried disabling SLI, but this seemed to make the problem worse if anything. I have also tried VSync on and off, to no effect.

I have also tried the laptop on other not-too-demanding games, such as League of Legends, with no issues at all.

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

temperature of CPU and GPU while gaming? Run coretemp and GPU-Z, while gaming and after the stuttering appears, look up the highest temps

I had HWMon running during the game, the CPU maxed at around 47C, and the GPUs at about 72C - which should well be within tolerance for mobile chips.

Look at the CPU frequency, does it drop while gaming?

47°C is too low, should be around 70°C, when CPU frequency is at 2.5GHz adn under load

It didnt seem to really be under load, around 40-50% usage in Garry's Mod.

exactly that could be the problem, did you test your system with prime95 (smallfft)+ coretemp?
also test with furmark (burnin) both at least for 10minutes
read temps and frequency of CPU

which graphics driver version is installed?
