Hi all,
I am building a gift pc for my friend and i already think i know what parts i should get him.
The budget of the pc should be around 1000-1100usd.
But the thing i'm confused at is should i buy a used 980ti(330usd) or a used 970(220usd) or a new 1060(250)

Should i buy the 980ti without a mouse or keyboard or should i go with one of the others with a mouse and keyboard?

The things is about the 1060's are 128its and 256bit models, and a 970 SSC AC2 4GB(256bit) is faster than the 1060(128bit) 6GB, but slower than the 1060 (256bit) 6gb and the 980Ti beats both being almost equal to a 1070

which to buy... depends on the rest of the system :)

microcenter sells a cheap mouse and keyboard for like 5$ each, those are such individual things they will get changes pretty quickly anyways, I normally don't build system for friend with anything but basic mouse/keyboard and lets them get what they like better

never saw 1060 with 128bit nor 256 bit (due to memory configuration). 1060 memory interface is 192 bit for both 6GB and 3GB model. performance wise 970 is more like in between. 1060 6GB > 970 > 1060 3GB. but most often factory overclocked 970 can compete very well with majority of 1060 6GB out there.

@OP

if warranty is not really a concern 980ti is the best option to have in term of performance. though used 980ti should probably cost no more than $300. for $330 probably better to spend a bit more to get 1070. pretty much the same performance but still come with warranty.

It's probably going to be a 1080p monitor but still not sure about the refresh rate. Maybe above 100fps.

And maybe i will get him the coolermaster kit(cant remember the name but a cheap one).

So would a 1060 be able to push a 100fps at 1080p?

That's a good choice, I can play GTA ultra at 60 frames vsync on. Get the 6gb model and go for 16gb of ram
