Thanks, in advance, for replying - be as tecchy as you like, I can take it!

I have a GTX 980 card, with a burnt component on the PCB. I want to salvage the 980 chip.

Can I put the 980 processor in a GTX 780 board?

Put another way, can I do a processor upgrade from a 780 to a 980?

The 780 is 384 bit bus, while the 980 is 256 bit - is this a problem, or a bonus?!

I can upgrade my pc motherboard so, how naive am I for asking (1 - 10)?!

Solution
Not possible as people mention. Also unless you have like a $10,000 machine to reball it and the screen for it, you cannot do this anyways even if it was possible. Just like CPUs the pins/tracers are different so the only thing you could is transplant a 980 into another 980.
