So I recently bought my lil bro a computer, but almost instantly we faced some problems when he tried to run "Steep".

His build is the following:
Intel Core i5-7400 Kaby Lake
EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB SC Gaming
ASUS Prime B250M-Plus, Socket-1151
Crucial DDR4 2400MHz 16GB
Windows 10

When entering settings on Steep, this is what shows:

On benchmark, the computer runs at 8 fps - but as you can see on the photo only 128MB of vram shows ingame with 2GB required.
What could this be caused by? Is it possible that the game is using integrated motherboard vram instead of the designated GPU vram?

Thank you so much in advance.

Solution
If he is using VGA then he is attached to the motherboard as the GTX 1060 does not have a VGA port and does not support an analog signal at all. If your brother is using a VGA only monitor he will need either an active DVI-D, HDMI or Displayport to VGA adapter in order to attach it to the GPU.
Did you connect the monitor to the graphics card or the motherboard?

It sounds like you connected to the motherboard thus are using the CPU's integrated graphics and NOT your graphics card.

(I assume you also installed the NVIDIA software from NVidia's site but just in case I mention it here)

I had a quick chat with the live-support of the website I bought the pc from and they also asked the exact same question.
I facetimed my lil-bro (we live apart) but as far as I could tell/what he told me - there was only one connection point in which the monitor cable fit into the PC (VGA connection).
How do I tell whether its connected properly or where to connect it, if its wrong?

Could very well be that. I'll try buy him an adapter and see if it works, thanks!
