Which one should i buy, powercolor red dragon RX 580 8gb or the galax gtx 1060 6gb,RX 580 cost around $380 and gtx 1060 cost around $300.i wanted to mine ethereum but got confused by which one should i buy especially for long term mining(1 year or more).

Solution
1060 can get up to 23-25 MH/s, RX 580 up to around 30 MH/s, depending on what brand of GDDR5 it uses.

I don't know if I'd be planning for long term eth mining, as I believe they're still eventually planning on switching from proof of work to proof of stake, which eliminates mining.

Solution
Look at the current profitability of eth mining to estimate how long it would take for the RX580's superior hash rate to make up the difference in price.

Power draw difference should be maybe 30-40W at most. I don't know how much power costs you so I can't say how big a difference that will make. You should factor this in to your profitability analysis though. Or are you actually worried about the heat itself for heating up your PC/home?
