GTX1080 and my rig compatible

I have a Asus x58 sabertooth motherboard
i7 950 cpu
1000W PSU
currently have a Asus gtx580 and want to replace with gtx1080.

Will my rig support the GTX1080?

Absolutely. Even though the 950 is from the first of the Core i series, it's still a very capable CPU and shouldn't bottleneck the 1080.

shouldn't you check if it fits your tower case as well? sometimes you have to sacrifice some drive bays for a large gpu mostly for small or mid size towers
