gtx1080 not working...

I built my computer yesterday and I have a problem with my gtx1080. When I plug my gtx1080 into the mainboard and boot it, the monitor won't show anything. The fans and other things are running but the system won't boot. When I remove the graphic card, everything works fine. I've updated my BIOS, unplugged powercords and checked if the card was inserted correctly but it still doesn't work...I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here. Thanks.

Are you making sure you're moving your display cable to the GPU and not the iGPU? I.e. are you also moving the display cable slot?
Does the GPU boot normally, but not display anything? Or is the GPU completely dead?
Is there another PC you can put the GPU in to test?
