Hey all
My rig has 2x MSI gtx1080's in sli and I want to replace the ugly pcie cables it came with.
For example take the 1st card the msi gpu has an 8pin and 6pin connection and obviously both must be powered, But on my rig its only being powered by a single 8pin cable that splits into two 6+2 that plug into the gpu with the extra 2 pins just dangling.
So is this necessary? my PCU has spare 6 pin connections could I just buy an 8pin cable and 6pin cable separately and plug it into the gpu instead of this single 8 pin that splits into 2 8pins?
Does this setup limit the power my gpu receives?
