Hi all. I am looking at upgrading my graphics card and have deduced that the GTX580 is maybe the one to get. The trouble is, my budget cannot go over £300 and there is no-one in the UK selling these for anything near my budget (unless anyone here knows different )
I found this on Ebay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZOTAC-P-N-ZT-50101-10P-GEFORCE-GTX-580-1-5GB-PCI-E-/170686302437?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item27bdb248e5#ht_2313wt_1141
Would this card be OK, do you think? Are they ALL made in the same factory with different brand coolers bolted on post manufacture?
Or should I just go with the HD6970 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-038-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752
I game on my 1080p TV and am obviously looking at getting high FPS rates at full settings.
.....
.....
Or maybe I should go for a seriously overclocked 570 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-085-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1010

At that resolutions i would go for a gtx580.
Even though bigger vram is better which is the hd6970.

The SOC versions considered to be problematic due to the high unstable overclocks.
Some buyers have been complaining about them being unstable ableit not all of them.

If you do buy a SOC version make at least sure they are stable.

The vram will only help at a resolution higher than 1920x1080 or on a multiple monitor setup, so not better in OP's current situation. The 580 is around 10-15% faster than the gtx570, which is faster than the 6970. With an overclock the 570 will perform with a stock 580. I love my 570 and hands down for 300 bux would recommend that kind of performance to anyone. If you have issues with unstable overclocks, then make sure to research voltages, which is something that gets overlooked quite often with novice overclockers. I highly recommend looking into a 570 before making any concrete decisions one way or another but at your res pound for pound NVIDIA might be what you need unless a crossfire setup from ATI is in your budget/ preference in the near future
