Hey guys. I just recently bought a new gtx760 recently. I feel like its having some abnormal preformance issues. when playing skyrim i get about 40ish frames with everything maxed (1440x900). I suspect a CPU bottleneck but i dont feel like a bottleneck would be hitting me as hard as this. My rig is as follows.

A-10 5800k APU @4.2
8gb of ram
7200rpm 500gb hdd
gtx 760 by evga

I wouldnt be so annoyed if my brother who has a similar rig as mine gets better frames with a higH res pack and plays at a righer res with a weaker gpu. His rig is as follows.

I3-3220 @3.3
8gb of ram
7200rpm 500gb HDD
gtx660 by evga

I do have 2 displays. One at 1024x1280 (secondary display. Use it for mostly side tasks and videos and what not.) The other at 1440x900. When i play AC black flag on optimal settings my game stutters a bit. If it is a bottleneck then darn. If not please help.

The amd apu does very poorly in skyrim. Also check to make sure your primary graphics adapter is set to the 760, as it sounds like you are using the graphics on the apu as opposed to your 760....

rule of thumb, never buy an apu if you are buying a discrete graphics card, especially when it isn't to crossfire with the apu

Skyrim is a VERY CPU bound game. I agree its odd though.

What does Task Manger show your CPU Usage as while playing and whats your GPU Usage?

If all your CPU Cores are at 99%-100% but your GPU is only at, for example 65%, then you have quite the "Bottleneck"

You could aslo try detaching your 2nd Monitor. Sometimes this will cause a cards Core Clock to stay in 2D Mode resulting in horrid performance.

Are you using at least Driver 331.82 or later?

You can see my rig in my SIG and I play a heavily Modified Skyrim (Well, about 80 Mods) and a few times Ive disabled Skyrim Built in Vsync.
Not a good Idea because the way the game works but I wanted to see my Max Framerate. I get at 1920x1080, All Ultra, 2x MSAA and FXAA, about on Avg. 85Fps and very rarely below 60.

You should defiantly be getting more FPS... I wouldnt think a 5800K would do that much.

I dont see how it couldnt be. Both monitors are hooked up to the card. I bought an apu as my pc was a gradual build. Also, spec wise the cpu side of the 5800k is roughly the same as the i3 with the i3 being marginally better. I just dont see how i could be dropping such preformance like that just because of the cpu.

I dont see how that would be the Problem. If the Display is connected to the Dedicated Card, The System Auto Defaults to it. Unlike Laptops who make your head explode.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to disable it via the BIOS/UEFI if nothing else works

I ended up keeping it at 4.4 because it may not be 4.6 but ingame 4.6 was getting me up to 92C with my hyper212+ in 4.4 it never gets above 75 and im still getting much better preformance from that setting. I think i'll keep it there amd untill i get my new processor (FX6300) i will keep it there for gaming. Thanks guys!
